Rock Hall to Tidewater Marina in Havre de Grace, Maryland

We got up at 4 am to get underway using a spotlight to maneuver through the anchorage in Swan Creek and back out into the bay. As it was getting light the fishing boats part of the Rockfish Tournament went roaring past. We pulled up to the fuel dock at Tidewater Marina before 8:30 am and so they put us into a different slip expecting a crowd of boats to check out and another crowd to pull in. We walked into town for a second breakfast at Vintage Cafe. We had to book an Uber for tomorrow morning to take us to rental car to get back down to Deltaville to pick up our car and store it here.

Gorgeous sunrise

Fantastic cloud coverage

Murals right outside marina

On Monday morning we made our coffee and oatmeal and contacted our Uber drive to pick up the Budget rental car in Essex. We took off for Deltaville and the traffic was not as bad as expected due to the destroyed Baltimore bridge. Leaving Jackson Creek Marina with our car, we headed to Newport News Williamsburg airport to drop off the rental car. We then took off for the Chesapeake Bay bridge tunnel to the eastern shore. We passed by Cape Charles on our way to Onancock where we spent the night at the historic Charlotte Hotel. We popped into the wine store next doors for a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers for happy hour in our room before going around the corner to Bizarros for delicious lasagna and clam strip specials. We walked down to the waterfront through the historic district.

On Tuesday we ate a delicious French toast breakfast at the hotel before driving out to Assateague National Seashore where we did the three hikes of life in the marsh, life in the forest and life in the dunes. We stopped on the ocean side to view the spectacular display of kites. We stopped at Windmill Creek Winery for lunch and then stopped to see the harbour in Northeast and to look at a car storage unit in Perryville before returning to Havre de Grace.

On Wednesday we returned to Vintage Cafe for breakfast before heading by car to Perryville to do laundry and grocery shopping. We contacted an Uber ride to bring us back from Belair Public Storage where we parked the car. We strolled through town to the promenade before returning to La Cucina for a yummy pizza and beer. Even brought two slice back for lunch tomorrow.
