We stayed up late due to the live music from the restaurant next door to the marina and then got up at 4:30 am to leave the dock at daybreak. We were out Manasquan Inlet by 5:00 am to find calm seas and the wind behind us. We scooted along at 14 knot instead of our usual 7 knot cruising speed so we would get into New York City before the chop picked up. We entered New York Harbour and were at the Statue of Liberty by 8 am. We dodged 4 anchored freighters, two Staten Island Ferries, a tug pushing a barge and two fast ferries putting up bouncy wakes. We took pictures of me holding on tight to the bow with the magnificent Statue of Liberty in the background. We passed by Ellis Island and continue up the Hudson River under the bridge with the middle of the river the state line with New Jersey on the left and New York on the right. We continued through the George Washington bridge and anchored off Palisade Interstate Park on the New Jersey shore. We were glad to get out of the boat traffic and cook a late breakfast of corned beef hash and eggs. Then is was nap time and decided in the midst of the heat wave not to go ashore in the heat of the day. After dark, we saw the spectacular lit up George Washington Bridge and the New York City skyline behind it.
