Solomons to Plaindealing Creek off Tred Avon River, Oxford, Maryland

We headed out with our coffee to the town dock where we walked the riverfront boardwalk to the Pier Restaurant and shops. We could not find a breakfast place so we walked to Roy Rogers and had a breakfast biscuit at their outside dining. We continued on to CVS Pharmacy where we finally got a prescription filled after a dozen phone calls between them and the doctor's office and the two pharmacies. We stopped at Weis Markets again and at West Marine and the liquor store for what we forgot the first time. We pulled anchor and headed out the Patuxent River where it was still choppy passing Calvert Cliffs so we were at the inside helm. We then crossed the ship's channel and the seas calmed down as we continued up the Choptank River to the Tred Avon River and then on to Plaindealing Creek to anchor across from Oxford with one other sailboat.

It rained unexpectedly overnight and we woke up to an overcast day. We dinghied to the Town Dock where the ferry lands and walked across the street to the Salter's Taproom and Tavern for breakfast. We then took a stroll following the waterfront around past the marinas and ended up in the center of the historic district with the market, coffee shop, ice cream parlor, museum, library, police station with public restrooms, and the library across from the park. Dark clouds threatened and the winds picked up so we headed back to the boat. The town is decorated with artist-decorated fence displays that will be auctioned in the fall for charity fundraising.

We headed out for a repeat breakfast at the tavern eating outside this morning. We did our walk around town finding Doc''s Sunset Grille for a return to see if it is the hot crab dip with jalapeno peppers that we remember. We visited the Oxford Museum and then went to the Watermans Museum which is a tribute to the black slave watermen and had a delightful tour guide explaining the history behind the artists. We sat in the park watching the sailboat race waiting on the creamery to open at noon. We were not disappointed at the delightful raspberry lemon and crushed strawberry flavors that were our favorites.  We headed back to the boat for some boat work with plans to head into town tomorrow for a walk and crab dip before we head on to Trappe Creek.
