Rouses Point to Deep Bay near Point Au Roche State Park, New York

The rain and wind finally let up as the remnant of Hurricane Debby passed overnight to blue skies on Saturday morning. We walked to Lakeside Coffee shop for a delicious bagel breakfast and then walked to Stewart's Convenience Store for beer and hard cider. The marina was hosting a coffee and pastry get together in the Marina Captain's Lounge  from 9-11 am so we stopped in for a wonderful apple turnover. The coffee and pastries were from Lakeside Coffee Shop so they were delicious. We left the dock heading out Lake Champlain to Deep Bay. It was a gorgeous day with the sailboats out and the most wind we have seen in a while. The moorings at the State Park do not seem to be maintained with painters and are too close together so we went far into Deep Bay where the moorings stopped and dropped anchor. Three other Canadian boats have rafted ahead of us close to the dinghy dock. We saw a horse trailer unload two horses. There are hiking trails to explore. We headed into the dinghy dock and hiked the trail to Deep Bay Point and back to the Nature Center. We stopped by the boat to pick up wine and did a dinghy tour over to Middle Bay for happy hour and then headed back to the boat.

On Sunday morning, we cooked breakfast and enjoyed our coffee on the flybridge and had a leisurely morning. When we decided to head ashore a black squall line of clouds was at the entrance to the bay so we stayed put. It rained off and on all afternoon and evening so we had a relaxing day on the boat. We have plans to check out marina storage near Burlington, Vermont on Monday.
