Westport to Len's Marina in Portland and on to Colonel By Island, Ontario, Canada

After finishing up boat chores of filling water tank and scrubbing the decks, we walked back to Country Kitchen for another delicious breakfast. On the way back we stopped at Vanilla Bean's Cafe and Creations for a raspberry white chocolate scone and a much publicized butter tart to go. We left the dock and headed towards Narrows Lock and they were opening the Narrows Swing Bridge as we arrived and they grabbed our lines and pulled us to the front while waiting for a rental LeBoat to join us. We then cruised Upper Rideau Lake to Len's Marina in Portland for diesel fuel  and a pump out. We then headed to Parks Canada Colonel By Island and grabbed the next to last mooring ball. There is a dinghy passage inside to Lost Lake and restrooms and a hiking trail on the island so a perfect place to spend the weekend hopefully out of the boat traffic. We did get lost on Lost Lake as there are several entrances and we went out one and came in a third and finally followed a kayaker out. We grilled out some wonderful stuffed pork chops and corn on the cob and enjoyed dinner on the flybridge.

On Saturday morning, Glenn cooked his famous corned beef hash and eggs and we had a leisurely morning planning are travel for next year. After lunch we took the dinghy to the Parks Canada dock and explored the island. We hiked the 3 kilometer loop trail and got pictures of two hairy woodpeckers. The dock was crowded with folks enjoying the water. Yesterday Glenn went overboard to make sure we did not have anything around our props since the seaweed grows up to 6 feet long and covers the areas close to the docks. And yes the water is cold! Glenn has his fishing rod out fishing off the stern. This is such a beautiful setting next to small island and away from the other crowded park docks.
