We closed up the boat thinking that we would get rain overnight as forecast but it did not rain. We got up to a chilly morning where we were our sweatshirts and sweat pants as we left the mooring ball at headed up Big Rideau Lake. From the lake we entered Rideau River and had more narrow channels. We went through Lock 32, Ponnamalie Lock with the railroad bridge. We then went through Lock 31, Smith Falls Lock and Lock tenders suggested we tie up to the wall in the basin before Lock 29A, Smith Falls combined lock. The rental Le Boats are docked in the basin as well. We headed to the nearest lunch spot at the Lockmaster's Taphouse and Patio for a brew and ended up with a shareable feast which included kimchi dumplings, Bundy bites and sweet and spicy wings. We walked by the three old locks that were preserved when new combined lock was built and followed the same Rideau Trail down to the Heritage Museum and got a guided tour. We hiked the trail back and now the basin is filled with docked boats.
