Oswego across Lake Ontario to Navy Point Marine in Sackets Harbour, New York

We got up at 5:30 to walk across the bridge to Sherry's Downtown Diner. We ate a huge breakfast with the early bird local regulars. Back to the boat to check on how many boats going for first lock opening at 8 am. We were the second boat in followed by two other boats and then we were off out the Oswego Canal across Lake Ontario. It was a beautiful warm and sunny day with no wind or waves so a perfect crossing. We had Current Dream following us and Sea Level came later to the slip next to us. We took a shower and then walked the town of SacketsHarbour remembering we had stopped here on a camping trip with Cutie to tour the battlefield. We stopped for lunch at the Whisky Coop for spicy fried chicken and sweet potato fries. The Sackets Boathouse Restaurant which is where we were headed was closed today and their waterfront dining overlooks the marina. The other popular spot was the Sackets Harbour Brewing Company. We strolled by the art center and window shopped and walked to the Village Deli Market for beer and pretzels and to get a 5 mile hike in. We headed back to the boat and turned on the air conditioner to chill out for the evening,

On Wednesday morning we headed down Main Street to Tin Pan Galley for breakfast. What a beautiful outdoor setting until we had a few rain drops and moved inside to a cozy beautifully decorated space. We were the first ones there at 8 am and by the time we left almost every outside table was filled. We walked through the Sackets Harbour Battlefield Park right next to the marina and where they will shoot off the fireworks on July 4. We read the historical markers for the Battle of 1812 and followed the path along the waterfront that circled back towards town. We came across the Bicentennial Path so we followed it through the woods and through town and ended up walking 8 miles before lunch at the Battlefield Eatery where we had delicious salads. Back to the boat for some boat chores before watching the movie Beekeeper that Glenn downloaded before cooking chicken and rice for dinner as the rains started as predicted.

On Thursday, July 4th we headed back to Tin Pan Galley for another delicious leisurely breakfast of blueberry pancakes. We took off back to the battlefield park and strolled through the center and visited the exhibits and then took the unexplored path back towards the Bicentennial Path and then into town by the Visitor Center. We stopped at the Battlefield Eatery for a salad lunch and then back to the marina to scrub the boat. Glenn put the dinghy down and got rid of the mustache of brown along the waterline when I scrubbed the topsides.  After a  cooling shower, we headed to the screened in porch gazebo and started the four loads of laundry while we had our happy hour wine with our charcuterie board. We had a late dinner grilling out on the marina propane grill by our dock and enjoying a gin and tonic while waiting for the fireworks. They started out across the harbour and were below the tree line but by 9:45 pm it was a grand display and we had front row seats from our fly bridge on the boat. Luckily the boat on the t-dock with us went out to view the from the harbour so we had an unobstructed view. What a wonderful holiday!
