The fishermen stayed on our dock until nightfall fishing but it was a quiet evening as we were the only boat docked after passing through Locks 49, 48, 47, together and ten Lock 46 where we docked. We got up early and walked over to the lock and toured the grounds looking at historical markers. We then set off for Lock 45 at Lower Brewers and then Locks 44, 43 at Upper Brewers. We caught up with the sailboat that passed us at the dock in Kingston waiting for a group of four boats locking through going in the other direction, We locked through with the sailboat for Locks 42, 41, 40 and then 39 at Jones Falls as it began to rain and thunderstorm. The sailboat stopped right after the lock and we continued around to the two docks near the dam for the night. It was a spectacular lightening and thunder and constant rain for several hours but a nice view from the fly bridge. Once the sun came out we went to observation deck at the dam and followed the path around the locks to the restaurant and small store before circling back through the trail through the woods. We enjoyed birdwatching and having happy hour on the fly bridge before the gnats ran us down below for dinner.
