Picton to Port Trent Marina, Quinte West, Ontario, Canada

We got an early start leaving Picton Harbour headed to Port Trent Marina near the start of the Trent Severn Canal heading to Lake Huron. The wind picked up and the water was rougher than we expected and by the time we got tied up it was not the predicted 12 but closer to 20 knots. We stopped at the Fuel Center which was at the old marina and waited for a motor yacht to fill up with 2000 liters of diesel. We got a pump out and fuel before being directed to our slip. The marina has beautifully landscaped grounds and free laundry and upscale bath facilities along with strong WIFI at the dock. We immediately headed to Captain George's Fish and Chips. The marina reviews said that if you only eat one meal here make it there and they did not disappoint. We headed back to the boat and turned on the AC and defrosted the refrigerator and freezer so we can stock up tomorrow at the Metro across the street. It was an extremely hot day near 90 so it felt good just to sit in the shade. The seaweed is clogging up the air conditioner water intake so we turned it off and opened the windows and we have a nice breeze.

We got up early to walk the hour to the first lock stopping at Walt's Country Kitchen for breakfast. It rained a bit but we had our umbrellas and followed the green way along the waterfront to the restaurant and then onto the lock. The same boat Journey that we helped push off our dock was the first boat in the lock so we took pictures. We met Til We Can't on bikes who were getting their lock pass as we boat the port guide. The locktender told us of the trail leading off the blue line dock that would take us the entire way back to the marina. It was a great hike and we stopped at the Shoppers Mart Drugs, the Liquor Control Board and the Metro Grocery Store as well as the Home Goods Store. We got all our shopping done, took a luxurious shower at the marina bath house, did a load of laundry while we enjoyed happy hour on the patio.
