- We had sudden rain showers during the night so it was a scurry to close all the windows and hatches. We had a pleasant night on the Bohemia River and a wonderful breakfast on the fly bridge. We pulled anchor and moved back down the Bohemia River to the junction of the Elk River and turned up it and under the bridge to the anchorage at Chesapeake City. There are two sailboats and one trawler anchored here next to the Chesapeake City Inn and Marina. We took the dinghy into the town dock near Chesapeake Inn and Marina and walked the historic area. We found lunch at the Taproom where we had seafood chowder and mussels fra diablo and a pitcher of beer. The other customers were ordering blue crabs. We walked around the anchorage past the public boat launch to the Corp of Engineers Chesapeake and Delaware Canal Museum in the old pump house. We then hiked along the canal road across into Delaware and came back by the Bethel Cemetery. We grilled out for the first time this trip and the steaks, squash and asparagus were delicious.
