The winds calmed down last evening and it was mirrorlike as we headed into the dinghy dock to dump garbage, fill up water jugs to top off the tank, and drop books off at the book exchange. This morning it was cool with low humidity as we headed out of Jackson Creek to the bay and turned south towards Wolf Trap Light, then turned into Mobjack Bay at New Point Comfort Light, and then up the East River to Put In Creek. We are anchored off Town Landing dock and it is a two-mile walk to Mathews. We can also dinghy up to Mathews at high tide in the morning to go to the diner for breakfast. We had a gentle rain all afternoon so it was nice sitting under the bimini on the flybridge.

On Tuesday morning we headed to Town Point dock to tie up the dinghy and then headed towards the highway into Mathews. There was a narrow shoulder but grassy sides to move over when traffic came and then a nice sidewalk that went all the way through historic downtown to Linda's Diner. This was the local spot and a great simple breakfast. We did our shopping at Ace, Dollar General, and the Food Lion before checking out the canoe launch dock at Put In Creek. There was a pretty park pavilion and nice public restrooms and cell phone service so we had a nice water break and we ended up hiking 6.8 miles. We bought a huge local cantaloupe from a farmer's truck and cut it up and had it for lunch. We did end up getting a short ride back once we got on the highway. It was a cool 63 degrees this morning and only a high of 80 degrees.
