Parry Sound to Kilcoursie Bay Anchorage, Killbear Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada

On Friday, we took off walking from the marina around to the waterfront trail past the Coast Guard Station, Sailing Club and Beach Park before heading to Orr's Fine Meats and Deli for an outstanding breakfast. We walked over to the NAPA store for oil filters killing time until the Dent Bakery opened at 10 am. There was already a long line but it was worth waiting for their sourdough multigrain arisian loaf and scones. We ended up walking 5 miles before we left the dock at Big Sound Marina. We set our course to the Kilcoursie Bay Anchorage at Killbear Provincial Park passing by Lighthouse Point on the Way. We found a spot on the edge of the yellow buoyed marked anchorage off the swimming beach and near Twin Point. We headed ashore by dinghy and found the bike path and found our way through the campgrounds to the iconic Killbear Tree. By the time we returned to the boat we had hiked 12 miles.

On Saturday we had a lazy morning and then took off in the dinghy further on down the beach coming ashore at Beaver Dam Campground. We headed down the bike path to Lookout Point Trail which started out as a boardwalk and then climbed to overlook the next bay over. It was a super hike and after hiking 5 miles we decided not to continue on to Lighthouse Point. The Discovery Center had already closed so we returned to the boat for another cool afternoon on the fly bridge.
