Ranney Falls to Mile 51.1 Lock 18 Hastings, Ontario, Canada

We got going shortly after 6 am passing through Campbellford and the short distance to Lucky Lock 13 at Campbellford We were the first boat there and finally the locktenders showed up at 9 am and locked us through with a boat who had  been our neighbor at Port Trent Marina. They had difficulty getting the second gate to close so we were temporarily at a loss as to what would happen but finally the gate closed and we locked through.  The second boat had a young girl on board so at each lock the lock tenders offered her candy or a trinket which was so sweet. We had some distance to go through Lock 14, Crowe Bay, Lock 15 16 and 17, Healey Falls. We went through Lock 18 and tied up against the town wall in Hastings across from the Hastings Harbour Marina. We enjoyed the breeze on the fly bridge and then walked across to McGillicafey's Pub. We started to eat outside on the patio but it was back from the water with no breeze and hot.  We enjoyed a beer and the pulled chicken loaded nachos which were delicious. We walked back along the waterfront by the gazebo but the town is small and we turned in early.
