We left Bobcaygeon early and headed to the Lock 34 at Fenelon Falls where we followed Heron to Lock 35 Rosedale and then through the narrow cut of the Trent Canal. We got ahead of Heron into Lock 36 Kirkfield Lift Lock. This is like the Peterborough but is not enclosed and you go into a pan and are lifted 5 stories in the air. We pulled over to the lock wall when we exited and got Heron on video as she came through. We had a great spot on the shady wall with one other boat on the other wall. We walked the two miles along the highway to Kirkfield passing the pharmacy, convenience grocery store, coffee shop and after eating poutine at Ace's Fry food truck we stopped at the Portuguese bakery. We bought a bag of bread rolls that were delicious. It was a quiet evening in a very rural spot.
