Naples to Little Shark River, Florida

We left the mooring at daybreak trying to get ahead of the rush hour traffic. We made it out almost to Gordon Pass and then got waked by two fast fishing charter boats in a hurry to pass us.  It was a little more wind and waves than we expected but it calmed down and we had a great cruise following five sailboats out of Marco Island. We pulled into the first inside anchorage at Shark River as there was a powerboat in the next one around the bend. We were joined by five more sailboats. The next morning the powerboat moved and a sailing catamaran moved in there so we went further up the river to get out of the incoming waves from the gulf. It was the most peaceful anchorage with an abundance of wildlife: manatees, porpoises, sea turtles, great blue herons, egrets and bald eagles. The boat traffic from fishing boats zooming to the mouth of the river was minimal and we enjoyed an extra day there fishing. We caught a smaller grouper, small mutton snapper and two jacks so no keepers.
