We got an early start and left the anchorage passing by the Old Grainery and spotted a bald eagle perched on the piling of the seawall as we headed out of the Belhaven Harbor. We were in a line of boats as we went up the Pungo River through the Alligator-Pungo Canal and across the Alligator River and through the Alligator Swing Bridge. We then pulled off into the Little Alligator River and anchored in Mill Point Island Anchorage. We are planning on getting up at sunrise to cross Albemarle Sound in the lightest wind conditions. Overcast all day as we enjoyed our anchors down beer out of the wind. We steered from the inside steering station as we pounded into the wind and the waves.
