Happy St. Patrick's Day! We got an early start down Biscayne Bay to stop at Boca Chita Key part of Biscayne Bay National Park. This was our first time heading towards the lighthouse and into the small harbor where you can tie up at the seawall. A nice kayaker helped us with our lines and we ended up chatting with him and his buddy who owned the sailing kayak. They were camping having traveled 11 miles across from the Visitor Center so we offered them a cold beer that kept the conversation going. We hiked the trail around the island and then several tour boats came in and they opened the lighthouse for the crowds to climb to the top. More boats came in as we let loose our lines and headed south past Angelfish Creek and Pumpkin Key to anchor out from Wednesday Point on Key Largo. The noseeum bugs were a little of a nuisance at the park so we wanted to anchor out in the light south winds. It's a beautiful sunny day with thunderstorms threatening on the other side of the bay.
