We left at first light after being awakened by boat wakes and headed towards Tampa Bay. We crossed the ships channel entering Tampa Bay with calm winds and then back into the intracoastal. We took down our single side band antennae and our radar arch with our VHF antennae yesterday so we can make it through all the drawbridges except the one at Venice Beach that only has a nine foot clearance. We grabbed a mooring at Marina Jacks in Sarasota and went ashore. We walked down Main Street to an authentic Italian restaurant. We talked to the owner and his daughters who moved here from Rome three years ago. We had an excellent Tuscan wine and ham, artichoke, and olive pizza sitting out on their sidewalk dining. We then walked over to Whole Foods Market for dessert and other fresh produce. We followed that up with relaxing on a bench at the marina doing a load of laundry. After getting fuel and water in the marina in the morning, we are excited to head to Caya Costa State Park only accessible by boat for the weekend.
